The theme for the 2015 rescue quilt is "Rhode Island Rhapsody — The Gilded Age."
It is with excitement that we present the 2015 Ridgeback Rescue Quilt. For this year's project, quilters were challenged to create blocks that would be representative of the theme, era (Gilded Age), or location, and that would be suitable for framing. Gilding runs throughout the quilt, from the metallic in the quilting threads in the frame and background fabrics, to the gold in the many portraits. The result is a series of blocks that are reminiscent of portraits or scenes on a wall. The two "R's&quoit; speak to both Rhodesian Ridgeback and Rhode Island Rhapsody, the title of the National Specialty Show to be held in Warwick, Rhode Island in September of 2015.
The finished size of the quilt is 52 in by 60 in (132 cm by 152 cm). Joan Lipiec designed the layout, made all of the frames, and assembled the blocks. Pat Ottaway made the quilt label. Sue Case contributed the quilting. Additional quilting was supplied by Barbara Logullo of The Electric Needle in Jupiter, Florida.
The quilt has an ample hanging sleeve and is ready to be displayed on a quilting rod as a decorative wall hanging. As with every other rescue quilt, this year's quilt was made with love for all ridgebacks.
The 2015 quilt will be raffled to raise funds for Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue, Inc. The winning ticket will be selected during the 84th RRCUS National Specialty Show at Warwick, Rhode Island, on Friday, September 25, 2015. Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win.
